Audio is now expected
The web serial → audiobook pipeline is no longer experimental. Readers expect popular serials to get audio adaptations. Authors write with eventual audio performance in mind. Soundbooth Theater and Podium Audio continue leading the space, but more publishers are entering.
Cozy diversifies
Cozy fantasy is branching: cozy sci-fi, cozy horror, cozy romance. The "cozy" modifier has become a recognized emotional contract — "this story will make you feel good" — applied across genres.
Cross-platform is default
Readers following serials across multiple platforms is now the assumption, not the exception. Platform-native tracking tools feel increasingly inadequate. Unified tracking (via Storywatch) is becoming expected infrastructure.
Discoverability remains the problem
More stories published every day. Platform algorithms show you what's popular, not necessarily what you'd love. Recommendation threads, community curation, and intelligent search remain the best discovery tools.
